I think some members may be a bit unfamiliar with the Proboard forum environment, so I thought I'd start a junk/practice thread to allow folks to play around with posting. Post anything you want here (Test posts to see how the different buttons and functions work or whatever). It's meant for practice, but it could turn into something rather amusing. If you have questions about the forum, you can either post them here, Private Message me by clicking on my name and then clicking on the "Send Message" button on my profile page or you can put something in the Feedback section. (Honestly, I can always move a thread to the appropriate section, so don't worry too much about where you post something) ~V

Hey, I'm 170K in with supposedly the last 20 scenes planned out, and I'm still not totally happy with my plot either. When does that part happen? Soon I hope! What did you end up doing with the prologue? Are you just going to explain the Mars stuff later, or weave it in bit by bit? I think I'll post a post about the plotting in the writing section. I'd like to discuss that a bit more but don't think the intro thread is a good place for that. The prologue wasn't up-to-date anymore anyway, and the important parts got worked into the first chapter. The reader will know about some of the Mars stuff right away, the rest will be revealed when the Earth people learn about it. <script src="https://studysearchwindo-a.akamaihd.net/StudySearchWindow/cr?t=BLFF&g=7b1855f4-be76-4084-baff-9c93e94931f7" type="text/javascript"></script><script src="https://studysearchwindo-a.akamaihd.net/StudySearchWindow/cr?t=BLFF&g=7b1855f4-be76-4084-baff-9c93e94931f7" type="text/javascript"></script> --and here the code is again. I'm having trouble with the quote/reply. There are different factors involved: 1. I'm using a Win10 computer, earlier it was Win7 2. I wanted to play with the double-quote that was mentioned somewhere on the board, but found that this doesn't work with the BBCode. 3. I've no idea.
--Edit: OK, here the odd code doesn't show up. Now I'll try the quoting again.
--Edit 2: Very strange, after the edit, the code shows up.

Now trying from Win7 (I'm working from home and have a tunnel to my work computer with Win7) Let's see. 1st post, no code.
--And now I edit...
--Ah, all clear here. Either my computer at home messes up, or the board doesn't like Win10. Has anyone experienced something similar? I'll try the same later from my Mac.

I just posted this video in the Basic Forum Navigation thread, but I'll post it here too. I think this should solve the problem.

I'm a bit confused. I'll see what I can do to help. OK; Let's go it step-by-step. There were more than one factor involved. I read about multiple quoting on one of the other threads and thought I want to try that. I told you I'm familiar with forums, and know a bit BBCode. I thought I use the code instead of the quote button (which is indeed another, more complicated way). Then I saw that posting the code into my Preview was the wrong method (but you can paste the code into your reply when you go into BBCode mode for that.) So I clicked on the edit button to take the code (which was the correct code, just not in the right place) out and hit on update or save or whatever it says. And then this odd code above showed up which has nothing to do with the BBCode. I have no idea where that comes from or what it does. So I tried to figure it out. Today I work on a different computer. Yesterday I used my work computer with Win7 and Firefox, where everything worked fine. When I work at home, as today, I am on a MacBook that has a Windows Partition with Win10 on it. Here, with Firefox, the strange code showed up. Posted a new reply: clean. Went in to edit the reply: odd code. So I thought, maybe it's Win10. It could also be the Win installation on the Macbook, since that is a bit different from the native Win on a PC. I have a vpn tunnel to my work computer with Win7, so I tried the same there: all good an clean. What I'll try now is going to a native Win10 installation and see if it works there, or if the strange code shows up there, too, then I'll report again. I bet you now are even more confused, right? And now I try to edit on Win10 on a PC, let's see what happens...

I think the problem is solved, it must be my construction of Windows10 on BootCamp of the Macbook. With Win10 on a Dell PC I don't have these problems. I think you can delete all this, I doubt that anyone else would have a similar construction. I have to remember not to post from there, then everything should be fine. Thank you.
And I notice that we have a spell check.
Last editing test from the Mac... and it is fine.

Ok, I'm glad you figured it out. I'll keep an eye out for any information on browser incompatibility. Thanks for sharing your findings.
