Hey! My name is Felicia and I'm not quite sure how to navigate this forum, but I'll do my best! I'm a writer from Germany, who has always been looking for an English writer's group, but so far has been unsuccessful. I hope to be able to join in some fun and valuable discussions once I manage to work my way around here. Though I call myself a writer, I have so far only self-published two short novels when I was young, and write a flash fiction blog (almost) daily. I am currently working on editing my fantasy novel, while ideas for further novels keep intruding my brain (now tending more towards the mystery/suspense genre). I'm looking forward to some lovely chatting and exchanging some constructive feedback! --Felicia

Hi Felicia and welcome! I hope you enjoy the forum and if you need help navigating, I have put together a tutorial that you can read here. I look forward to reading your work. Feel free to publish links to your books here in your introduction thread and/or The Bookstore. I had a chance to visit Germany many years ago and fell in love with both the food and the people (and of course the beer!). Munich and Heidelberg were my two favorite cities. If you have any questions or issues, please let me know. Otherwise, read, post and have fun. Chris

Hi Felicia! Greetings from America Have you ever been to this side of the world before, out of curiosity? I've never been to Germany, but it's on my list. Then again, the entire world is on my list, but who's really keeping track lol Good luck on the fantasy novel. Feel free to reach out for any help or ranting sessions

HI! Greetings from Germany I've been to the US once a couple of years ago, but I went to a lot of places, so I feel like I've been there more than once! I definitely want to visit again, since I (only) got to see NYC, Washington DC, Chicago, San Francisco, LA, Detroit and Niagara Falls (though that was the Canadian side). Now that I see that list typed up, I don't think the word 'only' belongs in that sentence anymore... Hahaha! Thank you - I will probably need that help soon! Or at the very least someone to listen to me ranting about my fictional world....

Hello Felicia, fellow German here. Do you write in both languages?

Hey, lovely to meet you! It's always nice to see a fellow German who writes in English I mainly write in English. When I was just trying out writing many years ago, I attempted to write (short) novels in German when I was working with a German children's author, but never really finished them and lost interest too. Somehow or another I stuck with English, and since those ancient German manuscripts I still have lying around somewhere, I wrote a short story to enter a competition (which I didn't win though) and later translated to English, and translated one of my English stories to German. Now, I prefer seeing myself only as an English writer, and tend to find English phrases directly translated in my German work! What about you? Do you write in German as well as in English?

Wow, you're a pro. I write Fiction in English, work-related stuff, mostly documentations, in German and English. I did write fanfic for a challenge in German once. It was a crazy challenge where chapters you wrote and comments you gave counted, but not the comments you got. I had many chapters, hardly anyone could comment, that gave my team a nice boost. After a while, writing in German became more comfortable, but in the beginning it was just odd.

Hahaha - not so much a pro, more like I like to try everything out That sounds like a fun challenge! It's still odd writing in German for me - perhaps I should just try and write more of it, to feel more comfortable, like you did.
